Not once have I thought...

how lucky the little girl will be who we adopt. I have had a few people tell me this. Not once has it crossed my mind that she is the lucky one. Instead, this is what comes to my mind quite often:

Thank you, God, for opening our eyes to adoption. There are so many children who need a family to call their own. We are incredibly blessed to be able to add another daughter to our family. I can't wait to see who she is, Lord, and to go get her. Imagine, another little girl to cuddle with, to tuck-in under the covers at night, and eyes that light up with excitment at little things that we may take for granted... and hugs - they are one of my favorite things in the world, and I can hardly wait until the day I get one from our new daughter.

We are the "lucky" ones.

In His name,

The Burgess Family

  1. AMEN! We adopted nearly 4 years ago and I still cannot believe how "lucky" and VERY blessed I am to have been allowed to parent this little girl! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, my bio children (24, 26, 34) but for God to have allowed our family the blessing of another child, when her native country said she was too damaged to be adopted, we watched as GOD moved mountains...WE are the blessed ones (lol, sometimes I feel sorry she didn't get a "better" family and God has to remind me that HE chose US, so there is no better family!!)
